Gut Rhythm is a research team spin-off from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, School of Biomedical Sciences, supported by the Hong Kong Government funding.

Staff in Gut Rhythm work closely with the academic laboratory of Professor John Anthony Rudd with a team of 4 senior research staff, 2 junior research staff, and 6 Ph.D. students.

Research manager (GR230001)

Academic requirement

BSc in Life Science, Biomedical Sciences, or relevant field in recognized universities

Other requirement

  • Important: Tolerance to work with live small animals in experimentation
  • Business-level English language skills

  • Ability to work and learn independently
  • Interest in working with cutting-edge technology
  • Tolerance of routine work and challenges

Advantageous skills

  • Experience working in a laboratory
  • Experience working with live small animals.
  • Experience in coding and programming (e.g. R, Python, MATLAB, etc.).

Responsibility

  • Work independently
  • Routine experiment in electrical recordings (training will be provided)
  • Literature research to help build the certified database
  • Good Laboratory Practice management
  • Lab management: materials stock and purchase orders
  • Data analysis and Database management (with a user-friendly platform)
  • Active communications with chief scientific advisors and chief technical officer to update progress or problems faced

Working location

  • He/she will join the laboratory of Professor John Anthony RUDD as an honorary junior research assistant at the School of Biomedical Sciences, CUHK, and work together with 4 senior research staff, 2 junior research staff, and 6 Ph.D. students. He/she will have chances to observe and learn multiple technical skills from other ongoing Ph.D. projects.

Working hours

  • Monday to Friday around 9:00 am - 5:30 pm (flexible upon completing daily tasks)
  • Once or twice per year, expected to help with Exhibition events held by the Company, potentially on Saturday/ Sunday with advance notice.

Business and Promotional manager (GR230002)

Academic requirement

  • BSc in business management or a relevant field in a recognized university

  • Business level of Chinese and English language skills

Responsibility

  • Work independently
  • Keep organized records for business operational documents and financial activities of the Company
  • Identify and survey potential markets and suitable promotion strategies
  • Conduct promotion activities
  • Manage Company service promotion, e.g. email list and product sales
  • Manage purchase orders
  • Active communication with customers to understand their needs in terms of legal, trusts, purchase expectations and requirements, etc.
  • Active communication between directors and research managers to improve sales quality and advice on budgeting and pricing models
  • R&D and regular meetings to promote service quality to fulfill market needs
